ASSESSMENT & TOOLS

I am an experienced Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, known as Dr Kike. My work includes the diagnostic assessment and treatment/management of a diverse range of mental health conditions in children and young people. I have a specialist interest in neurodevelopmental conditions and eating disorders.

I am naturally a warm, empathic individual and this helps me to relate with the young people and families I work with.

I have experience of practising within both community services and specialist inpatient settings within both NHS organisations and the independent sector.

I am a great believer in working collaboratively with young people and their families, generally utiising a holistic approach in the assessment process and management. This may include providing information or prescribing medication, and liaising with other professionals. I think together with the young people and family about other changes that can improve their recovery including lifestyle changes.

In addition to working with children and families professionally, I enjoy working with them in other capacities including volunteering in and supporting charities that support children. In particular, it has always been my delight to be part of teaching young people at my local Sunday school and making their learning experiences fun whilst formally and informally being part of a system that broadens their perspectives in life.

I hold a degree in Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) and became a member of the Royal Colllege of Psychiatrists in 2011. I furthered my interest in mental health by completing a masters degree in Psychiatric practice.

Training is important to me and I have been involved with teaching and supervision of medical students and junior doctors. I also enjoy participating in service development and improvement initiatives.

In my spare time, I enjoy cooking, baking and gardening.
