EXPERTISE

I believe in empowering families and young people to be agents of change and recovery through working collaboratively and building a trusting and therapeutic relationship with families and young people. I believe that a good thorough assessment and formulation of difficulties is the vital first step in recovery.

I have completed my core training in psychiatry and higher training in child and adolescent psychiatry with the St Mary’s training scheme in London following graduation from medical school in Egypt. I am a consultant child and adolescent psychiatrist with 15 years of experience in mental health in the NHS. I have been a consultant for 5 years and I am deputy medical lead in Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation trust.

I am skilled in assessment and management of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and the assessment and management of common and severe mental health disorders in children and adolescents such as anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorders, psychosis and bipolar affective disorder and in prescribing and monitoring effects of medication.

I have experience in intellectual disabilities and managing challenging behaviour. I understand how neuro-diversity can affect common mental health presentations.
