QUALIFICATIONS AND MEMBERSHIPS

I am a Consultant Psychiatrist currently specialising in Perinatal Psychiatry at Swansea Bay University Health Board in South Wales. Trained in General Adult Psychiatry with an endorsement in Addiction Psychiatry, I bring over 12 years of experience in Psychiatry within the NHS. My clinical journey has included diverse roles across General Adult, Child and Adolescent (CAMHS), Rehabilitation, Old Age, and Addiction Psychiatry. During my time in CAMHS, I developed strong expertise in diagnosing and managing ADHD and other common psychiatric conditions. I have also completed training through the UK Adult ADHD Network (UKAAN), led by senior clinicians at King’s College London, to diagnose and treat Adult ADHD.

I aim to provide comprehensive assessments, collaborative formulations, and evidence-based management plans—always tailored to the individual. When appropriate, I incorporate lifestyle interventions such as improving sleep, nutrition, screen time habits, and physical activity, alongside pharmacological treatments.

As an empathetic and multilingual clinician. I am fluent in Urdu, Sindhi, Punjabi, and conversational Arabic and I am especially attuned to cultural sensitivities and the stigma that can surround mental health. I am committed not only to supporting individuals but also to educating families and communities, particularly in settings where cultural barriers to care may exist. I see my role as more than just clinical. As I often say, mental health is doing something empathetically for the mind, soul, and body. With a strengths-based and inclusive approach, I strive to help people unlock their full potential and lead more fulfilling, stable lives.
